St. Patrick’s Day is next Monday! How do you plan to celebrate? Naturally, we suggest doing so with coffee! What’s the best way to celebrate St. Paddy’s Day with coffee? Make your coffee Irish, of course!
Here are a couple of recipes to help your coffee have a little luck o’ the Irish this weekend and/or on Monday.
Yields 1 serving
- 1 cup freshly brewed hot coffee
- 1-2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 1/2 oz Irish whiskey
- Heavy cream
In a coffee mug, mix coffee with both the brown sugar and whiskey. Whisk the cream in a small bowl and until it’s slightly frothy. Place a spoon upside down and rest it on the surface of the coffee. Pour cream over the spoon and serve it without stirring.
Yields as many as you want!
- 2 oz Bushmills Irish Honey Whiskey
- 5 oz hot coffee
- 3 oz warmed Baileys Irish Cream
- 1 teaspoon brown sugar
- Peppermint-infused whipped cream for the top
Brew a pot of your regular hot coffee. Pour the Irish Cream, the whiskey, and coffee into a coffee mug. Stir in the brown sugar until completely dissolved.
To make the peppermint-infused whipped cream, steep 2 sprigs of fresh peppermint leaves in 1 cup fresh whipping cream for 10 minutes. If you want the cream to be even mintier, steep the leaves longer or add a bit of mint extract. Remove the leaves and whip the cream with an electric mixer. If you’re feeling festive, add 1 drop of green food coloring. Top your coffee with the whipped cream and serve.
